Our Live Black Tea Kombucha Starter Culture is shipped in a live and active state. Therefore, it is important that the SCOBY is refrigerated as soon as possible to ensure the bacteria is not killed.
Freezer storage is not recommended.
1 live Kombucha (SCOBY) starter culture in the 4oz starter tea
3 cups water free of chlorine and fluoride (bottled spring water works well)
¼ cup white or plain organic cane sugar
2 black tea bags or 1 ½ teaspoon loose leaf black tea
½ cup Starter Tea or Distilled White Vinegar
A quart-sized glass jar
Tight-weave cloth or paper coffee filter (to cover the container)
Rubber band or canning jar ring to secure the cover to the jar
Plastic mesh strainer
