This strainer works great. It is so easy, just pour in the yogurt place in the refrigerator and wait. The length of time depends on how you like your yogurt, over night works well for me. Then you have your whey and yogurt. I also is it to make cream cheese from kefir.
I used to use coffee filters over a spaghetti strainer. That works but it’s more work, a bit messy and a waste of filters. This strainer is perfect. It exactly fits a half gallon batch. (With the coffee filter method I had to use four filters and had to strain the half gallon in 2 batches.)
When my yogurt is finished fermenting, I cool it first for 3 or more hours, then pour into the strainer and put it in the fridge. 3 hours straining is enough. You could probably let it go overnight. It’s very easy to empty the strained yogurt with a rubber spatula because the sides and bottom are all flat. After straining I empty the yogurt into a bowl and whisk for about 15 seconds or so to smooth things out. Then I jar up the yogurt and whey separately. It’s a very easy task now.
Staining the yogurt is so simple and effective using the Greek Yogurt Strainer. Just put the cooled yogurt in the strainer and let it sit. After the whey drains out the yogurt is a perfect consistency. And you have some healthy whey to mix in a smoothie or other drink for a refreshing tang and a source of protein.
The yogurt strainer is easy to use and it strains the yogurt to your liking. It is easy to use and clean up is also easy I like it and use it each time I make yogurt. HH
