Nearly any non-dairy milk can be cultured, including legume, nut, seed, grain, or coconut milk. While store-bought boxed or canned milk may be used, we recommend using milk with as few additives as possible.

Please offer the starter in bulk!

I too make my own coconut milk from which to make yogurt, only I use 1 c coconut:4 c water. I have a non-electric maker in which one batch sat for 6 days before I could refrigerate it!! It survived! I do find that after 24 hours it's not tart enough to my liking, so I let it sit for 48 hours. I make the yogurt using the Pomona pectin, which I buy in bulk from Azure. I would like to second the idea of offering the starter in bulk; keeping track of your packet inventory is a pain. If you're having trouble getting this to succeed, keep trying! It's outstanding yogurt.

We're so glad to hear you're loving the Vegan Yogurt Starter! Great idea on selling it in bulk. In the meantime, keep an eye on on our newsletter for product promotions to allow you to save money while stocking up!

Total Newbie Here...

I haven't used this product and would Iove to try it but I only drink rice milk (vanilla & plain no sugar). Has anyone tried this yogurt culture using rice milk? Plus what is the best cost yogurt maker I can buy? I live on disibility income so something like an instant pot is out of the question. Plus rice milk is thin, what kind of thickene is recommended? Thank you ~Kelli

Rice milk yogurt is delicious! Here are some tasty ways to thicken your yogurt: https://www.culturesforhealth.com/learn/yogurt/thickening-homemade-yogurt/ And while we do carry an excellent yogurt maker, you don't absolutely need one! https://www.culturesforhealth.com/learn/yogurt/how-to-culture-yogurt-without-yogurt-maker/

Great for coconut or goat yogurt

I make my own coconut milk (ratio: 2 cups shredded coconut / 4 cups hot filtered water) and have used it to make yogurt with this starter - worked great! I've also used this starter several times to make yogurt with goat's milk. I make my yogurt in an instant pot and it seems to do well. I've ordered this starter several times and will continue to!
