Pro Tip Corner

The Greek Yogurt Starter Culture is an heirloom-style culture. Unlike direct-set starter cultures, which are single-use cultures (1 packet of starter can make 1 batch of yogurt), an heirloom culture is re-usable, meaning, that with the proper care, you can use it to make batch after batch of yogurt - indefinitely!

I wanted to try something different as I have been making the same yogurt for a couple years with a culture from a different brand. I made it up yesterday and ate some this morning. The yogurt without straining is very smooth but has an odd glue-y texture and no tang, no flavor. I was disappointed. I think part of the problem is that I also used a different milk, one that was ultra-pasteurized. I will try a second batch with my favorite milk from some happy Amish cows to see if that helps.

We're sorry your first batch of yogurt didn't quite turn out! It's very important to steer clear of ultra-pasteurized milk, so yes, switching milk should help a lot. Since this is a culture that is reusable indefinitely, it can take a couple batches to reach its peak, but then once it's firmly established, your yogurt will be perfect every time!
Greek yogurt starter

Awesome product. Have already made 4 batches.

So far so good!

I'm making my third batch now. The first was very liquid, the second one less liquid, and the third one is in the yogurt maker now. If it's like all the other CFH products, I have complete faith that the third batch will be better yet!

Great service

Yogurts and service both better then expected.

I tried two different batches in an Instapot and could not get this to work!

Heirloom yogurt starters can take a batch or two to activate. Try using your runny batch to make another batch and you won't be disappointed!
